    Default CCW versus sportsman's permit

Well, for some of us lucky schmoes down the southeast end, tomorrow is the start of trout season. Joy...

So I'm betting we're gonna be armpit to elbow (you see, I'm teaching a friend to hunt as he's teaching me to fish). Normally in life I carry concealed, but usually don't while hunting. I'm wondering if I'd need a sportsman's gun permit for carrying while fishing, or if the CCW just trumps all.

Oh, and if nobody has the answer by 5am tomorrow (3/31) I'll just ask the first PCG guy I run into

LittleRedToyota is correct. CCW is statewide 24/7 except for restricted areas (post offices, courthouses, and other bastions of fascism)

I have found that open carry at a crowded lake or stream will keep some folks away from you. The ones you would probably not want to fish next to anyway. On the other hand, it would attract most of the guys on this forum.

    Hope you limit out!

Yeah, instead of walking right up on top of you to ask how the fishing is or what you are using, you'll get......."what are ya packin' there bud?"

Well, did you catch anything today? I drove by Darby creek and it was packed!

    Default oh the horror

I got shut out yesterday. We fished like madmen. I'm glad I had my buddy - I forgot my chain stringer and my worms, he forgot his sunglasses, we were symbiotic forgettors - but he wasn't very patient about the sitting in one spot bit.

His brother and his bro's co-workers made a good catch staying in the same spot (which roughly a bajillion people did walk through) while we decided to cross Darby and trek upstream. It was a very educational walk that produced a few tiny chub (useless unless you're bass fishing, I'm told) and the sight of a goose sitting on her nest.

I'm thinking of going back today. There's still hopefully a bunch of fish out there..

Oh, and to keep this on topic - I carried mace and a couple of knives. The only problem I'd heard was that the house on the right after the bridge if you're headed towards 320 has a VERY LARGE dog and an owner who is not fond of trespassers. And since anyone who's not an idiot is going to take their sweet time getting around in hip waders, I figured I was safe in the approaching threats department.
