Default Open carry legal in state forests and parks?

Can someone please give me a definitive answer? I have been reading the threads which mention that as of this year CCW is legal on state parks and forest. What about open carry if you have a LTCF?

I thought I should clarify, because my original post seemed ambiguous:

A revolver holstered and worn on the belt open carried
    Not during hunting season

I would like to know where I can and can't. Is what I described legal in a state forest? How about a state park?

Found this on the PA DCNR website:

Firearms and archery equipment used for hunting may be uncased and ready for use only in authorized hunting areas during hunting seasons. In areas not open to hunting or during non-hunting seasons, firearms and archery equipment shall be kept in the owner's car, trailer or leased campsite. The only exception is that law enforcement officers and individuals with a valid Pennsylvania License to Carry Firearms may carry said firearm concealed on their person while they are within the park.

Thank you. I may just end up contacting DCNR directly to ask about state forests and open carry. I will post what they tell me on the phone if anyone here is interested.

State forests are just the same as city streets and was unregulated prior. Open carry is legal without a license.

State parks are a different bird and you'd have to look at the legal changes from the law that just went into effect. ...which from memory, you'd need a license.

Asking the DCNR about it would be like asking a Pittsburgh police officer if open carry is legal. ...more than likely you'll get the wrong information.

Please contact your state leg. for that difinitive question. If you meet all the requirements why do you have to have a LTCF to OC?

Legislators are a poor source of legal advice. They make they laws, they don't interpret them. Few have a solid understanding of the intricate details, won't offer advice on legalities, and their opinion can't be used as a legal defense even if they do.

State forests are (and have been) legal to OC. The recent change affects State Parks only. Don't ask someone from DCNR - they aren't qualified to give legal advice either.

Are there any updates for 2022? The firearms you'll need for "wood defense" usually would not be concealed all the time, like a rifle or large frame revolver.

Not the topic at hand, but be aware of other outdoor recreational areas. Blue Marsh is Army Corps of Engineers (federal) property and you can only carry a firearm legal for and during hunting seasons.

Which is kind of ironic since National Parks are legal.
