Lithium battery source?

Okay you flashlight people. Where do you buy your CR123A batteries? I stopped in at Radio Shack and they want $20.00 for two batteries! I looked online and found a battery site selling all sorts for lots less money. One brand I never heard of is Titanium Innovations. Anyone ever hear of them? Anyone have a good source other than batteryjunction.com?

What about rechargeable lithium batteries?

I need an answer fast, before my flashlight goes out of battery! Is that firearm enough related? If not, I carry this flashlight around in case I need to take a shot in the dark. Wait, that doesn't sound right either. I have this light so I can shoot the moon. No, that's not good. I will try to think of something better while everyone is writing up their replies.

I would avoid botach for batteries. They have a habit of selling off (very) old stock at (very) good prices resulting in (very) short shelf life and run time.

Get your batteries from surefire. The more you buy, the cheaper they are. Get some friends together and buy them in bulk qty's. If you get them from surefire they'll be "fresh" stock.

They're lithium, so they start degrading almost as soon as they're made. I personally try to use LiON stuff that's less than 3 months from manufacture.

If they're rechargeable depending on charge cycle and environment of operation you can generally get 3-500 charge cycles out of them. With that being said...I don't know of any goo CR123 rechargeables...I've been looking.

I've just been buying the 6 packs from surefire as needed.

Anybody freeze their batteries? My grandfather used to work at "The Carbide" in West Virginia making batteries, and he would get a case or two for my father every time we would visit. Dad would keep them in the freezer, pulling them out when he needed them. Some of those batteries stayed good for many many years, and this was way before alkaline batteries even. I don't know if any of that has changed over the years though. Maybe it doesn't matter anymore.

As far as degeneration goes, so far what I have found is that the 123 batteries degenerate at the rate of 1% per year, sitting on the shelf.

lithium ion battery performance degrades in high heat or low cold temperatures. The batteries my company makes can lose up to an hour or two if they are not shielded in the customer environments (-24 F)
