Walther PPKS Jamming
I recently purchased a Walther PPKS that was a consignment gun. Supposedly hardly ever used, looked brand new and the paperwork that came with the gun said 1994. Shot several rounds yesterday for the first time and it kept jamming. Could they have sold me the wrong ammunition? They sold me 380 auto 95 GR FMJ AE380 AP. Any help would greatly be appreciated. I'd like to know if it's the gun or the ammo.

Re: Walther PPKS Jamming
Define "jamming." Is it stovepiping, failing to extract, failing to feed?
Any mission, any conditions, any foe at any range.
Twice the mayhem, triple the force.
Ten times the action, total hardcore.

Re: Walther PPKS Jamming
Definitely possible, if it's stovepiping. Those little pocket pistols are a handful.
Any mission, any conditions, any foe at any range.
Twice the mayhem, triple the force.
Ten times the action, total hardcore.

Re: Walther PPKS Jamming
I'm guessing "limp wristing" (before anyone else does).

Re: Walther PPKS Jamming
I am new to guns so forgive me. It lodges the new bullet at about a 45 degree angle in the ramp? leading into the breech? breach?

Failing to feed. Take a look at the feed ramp, make sure it's smooth and not covered in carbon or grease. It might require polishing.

Re: Walther PPKS Jamming
When you put the mag in and close the slide, does it load a round into the chamber or does it get stuck?
The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

Re: Walther PPKS Jamming
I have the same gun. I've had the same problem. There are a couple of issues here - both correctable. First, those guns, at least the ones made by Interarms (I bet yours is), were notorious for having rough feed ramps. Take it to a quality smith and have it throated and and polished. This may solve the problem. Second, the PPKs are recoil opperated. It is an old gun, old design, but still works well IF you use hot enough ammo. My PPKS is not happy with non+P ammo, typically. For target shooting, I've found Fiocchi to be hot enough. Not much else. Magtec fails to feed every other round. Quality +P ammo, such as CorBon JHP works wonderfully. I'm willing bet if you have the ramp throated and polished, and use hotter loads, you'll fall in love with the gun. It looks cool, is accurate for its size, and fits the hand nicely. Best wishes and stay safe.
