Default Yesssss! I got the wife to shoot!

It has taken quite a bit of convincing (borderline coercion) to get the wife to come to the range with us. After reading about a home invasion in Dover on Xmas eve I said, "That's the reason I want you to go to the range with me. If someone were to break in, you could get them to leave quickly if they even saw that you had a firearm." She decided to come with us today and admitted that she had fun. I wanted her to feel comfortable so I only had her shoot the SIG Mosquito but I think it was a good move. She realized that it was not nearly as intimidating as she was afraid it would be. Having her see my 10 yr old son and 12 yr old daughter shoot it first knocked some nerves off.

In the pic of my son, check out the shell casing that came flying at the camera. LOL

Is it me or does it look like she shoots like my mom? With her eyes closed Just kidding though. Congrats on getting her to go. I hope you have many more family trips to the range.

That is awesome. I need to get my wife to the range too. She says she doesn't like guns in the house. I tell her you never know when someone will try and break in or do a home invasion, so you have to always be ready.

Have her talk to some of the ladies on here or even some of the guys wives that have gone shooting. If she knew there were other women that went shooting she might warm up to it. Show her the pics on here even.

We had a lot of fun. I forgot but I did have the wife shoot 7 rounds from the Nagant revolver laying in front of her in that leather holster.

My 12 year old daughter shot my SIG P6 (9mm) and loved it. She wanted to shoot it so I just put in 1 round and put my hands over hers to be sure she could handle it. pfft.. no problem.

Then, I pulled out the beast. My neighbor is selling his Ruger GP100, .357 mag. Wow, that is a great gun. He let me take it to the range to be sure I wanted it. My son's Gatorade bottle had blown about 15 yds into the range and was laying with just the orange cap facing us. I squeezed off a round and the plastic bottle flew about 15ft into the air. The kids thought it was the most awesome thing they had ever seen. LOL

Excellent ideas. All women, especially moms, should learn to defend themselves and their kids. Show her this- it might get her thinking.

My sister in law wants to learn to shoot and wants a gun to have around the house as my brother may be heading to Afghanistan this spring and she has 3 little ones including a daughter that was born less than 2 weeks ago. Id take her out and teach her but she lives in AZ.

    Congratulations!

I've been trying to get mine to go but she's afraid of them. Almost talked her into shooting my new 22lr rifle, but then she backed out.

Be glad she's willing to give it a try!
