Slip-On grips...
Anyone use these on your pistols? I'm wanting to try 1 out on my XD to try to get a better & more firm grip.

Re: Slip-On grips...
I have (make/model unknown) but I found out in running the gun pretty hard in a pistol class, they have a tendancy to travel or move away from where they were originally positioned which screws up your grip until it is repositioned.
After that, I went to a "decal grip" which I liked a lot more. When my Glock broke a rear rail, Glock sent me a new receiver and i never reinstalled another grip enhancing device. I'm happy with the way it is in it's original design.
Your experience may be different.

Re: Slip-On grips...
They blow....IMHO
I had one on my older duty G17 (no finger grooves in the grip). Eventually they slip out of place and the rubber finger grooves are off kilter, especially if it gets a little solvent/gun oil in between the grip and the gun. Mine also ripped at the base from normal use, and range trips. I eventually took it off and never replaced it. It was of no benefit for me.http://tinyurl.com/y6jhwkw CLICK TO DONATE I'm riding again in 2010!

My only experiance was with Hogue finger groove type and they worked on my SIG Sauer P226.

Re: Slip-On grips...
They will work until they are pushed to a limit of many rounds or sweat, oil, multiple presentations, on and on.
i haven't talked to anyone who hasn't complained that they don't work when hard pressed.
For casual plinking or only occasional shooting, they might be OK although the decal grips appear to be better.
If anyone can tell me they ran 700 to 800 rounds in a weekend with them and they held up OK, your experience is different than mine.
I have no experience with any kind of grip tape.

Re: Slip-On grips...
The slip on grips will cover your grip safety on the XD.
I never liked the feel of them on a full size gun grip. On a PF9 or something its nice to have something to grab onto and absorb some force. But I never personally found them comfortable on other guns.

Re: Slip-On grips...
I tried a Hogue slip-on for my Glock G21SF but did not like it cause it did move around a bit. I discarded it the first day into a training session.
Still I wanted a different feel than plastic. So I tried the Agrip wrap. Makes it real easy to grip whether it's wet, cold, etc. Never had any issues with oil, solvent etc. from the cleaning of the guns. The Agrip is also much better than the rubber slip-on type when wet. It sells for around $18.95 online."Having a gun and thinking you are armed is like having a piano and thinking you are a musician" Col. Jeff Cooper (U.S.M.C. Ret.)
