    Default New to shotguns

OK, guys, here's a few questions. I inherited a 1926 LeFever Nitro Special 20-gauge double-barrel shotgun from my Dad (as well as his rounds), and have yet to fire it. I see talk about chokes, but do not understand the purpose of them, so could use some explanations here? Thanks in advance.

Dude, a shotgun that old won't have chokes. Chokes change the pattern of the shotgun...from a tight pattern to a larger spread pattern. You could get a smith to thread for chokes. If you really need more info...go to shotgunworld.com ...some of those guys their shotguns.

Thanks for the info. (and by the way, that's Dudette, not Dude.)

Open mouth, insert foot. I should have realized with pink in your signature. My apologies.

No problem. (And not just the PINK, but if you actually READ the sig line, you'd DEFINITELY know!)

I usually pay attention to details. I suppose I just dropped the ball on that one. I am sure that you have been called worse than a "dude"...beside, I could be one of those surfer types that calls everyone "dude" Thanks for understanding.

ICE, PM me your email address and I will send you more choke info. Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words.

Thanks, Dave. Even if the Nitro Special is too old for using choke tubes with, the info will really help when we get that pump-action shotgun that DH is wanting to get.

Thanks so much for the info, Dave. I waited until today to open it so that I could print it out (no printer hooked up to my laptop.). The info was VERY helpful! Thanks again.
