Allegheny County IDPA
I used to shoot IDPA at Greater Pittsburgh, which is now closed. Anyone in Allegheny County shoot IDPA, and if so, what are the closest clubs? Has anyone tried to start a chapter elsewhere in Allegheny County? Anyone know about classifier shoots for IDPA near Allegheny County?

We have lots of U.S.P.S.A matches in Allegheny county. No IDPA matches. See this web page for the USPSA info. http://www.uspsa8.org/clubs.htm

But who is still shooting? I see they have my local club listed. But they don't shoot in the winter.

Probably the closest place to GPGC would be Hancock County in WV. Just south of Steubenville is START...they also do an informal steel plate match that's a lot of fun.
North of Pittsburgh you have Lawrence County Sportsman and Castlewood----both are off of 422 near New Castle. (Lawrence County just started shooting this past summer) In northern Ohio, Youngstown Rifle & Pistol and Cubic Shot (Lisbon) have matches.
If you do any shotgunning, Lawrence County and Castlewood both are open to the public on certain days...might be possible to shoot IDPA and shotgun afterward. That's what I'm hoping to do next season.
You can check out the IDPA website for more info on those clubs & shoot me a P.M. if there's anything more that you want to know. There are three kinds of people in this world....them what's good at math and them what ain't.

LOL...beat 'ya by less than a minute, Hans!
I get a little misty-eyed (and a LOT pissed-off) when I see pictures of our old stompin-ground. In my 25+ years there I put a lot of blood, sweat & tears into the joint. There are three kinds of people in this world....them what's good at math and them what ain't.

Re: Allegheny County IDPA
I haven't even tried to speak to Tex about any of it on the rare occasions that I see him...not sure I'd believe him anyway, so why bother. We see Connie and Mom regularly...Mom's 83 now and her COPD is keeping her down. We don't press them for info when we see them...when Connie want's to tell us something, she does. She did NOT deserve to get caught-up in that mess at all! The club and property will probably end up being sold at some point. The re-opening might have been possible if Tex had stayed away...but....I'm sure you read that clip from the newspaper & know what happened there. That was the nail in the coffin, IMO.
