    I think you're underutilizing the cartridge. That would be similar to shooting a 45acp round.

    But to answer your question, Yes it would, with good shot placement and I wouldn't shoot at a deer more than 20yds away. Field conditions and shooters ability are large variances, so I'm sayin, thats the max. distance for me with the load you suggested.

    My dad has 2 taurus raging bulls, one in .44mag and one in .454 cas. To hunt game. He also has a Colt (dont know the model) in .357mag that he has shot deer with before.

    I use the Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley Hunter .44 mag.

    You also have to consider how your going to carry your weapon after you shoot the deer. Dragging the deer and carrying the rifle is not easy. Rifle keeps slipping from the shoulder or/and gets caught on branches, etc.

    Whereas, a handgun is out of the way and you have both hands free.
