    Default Gun raffle?

Does anyone know any good gun raffles going on? Also, I want to have a fund raiser for a local hospital and wanted to see if a gun raffle was appropriate or not? There are a lot of hunters in the area so i think it would be a good idea. Any thoughts?

Around here some of the local volunteer fire companies run gun raffles based on the PA Lottery daily number. 30 days, 30 guns, every day a new model firearm: you gotta find them fast because they get bought up quick. All of the ones I know of have already run their course.

As far as having your own raffle...this might be regulated by the state as a game of chance?
Just sayin' you might wanna check into that aspect of it.

You'll probably need a Small Games of Chance license issued by the county to hold one.

Aside from any legalities, you may want to confer with the org that you want to give the money to. Some places will object to receiving money from a weapons auction.
I know, you would think that they would be happy for the money, but when I was doing knives I had places refuse to have my tables at their markets beacuse they considered them to be weapons. One was even a fire dept, in Pa.

Thats strange. Around here fire departments throw some of the nicest gun bashes there are. Free beer, food, door prizes, on top of the raffles and walk-around 50/50 and other drawings.

Pinecreek township rents the fairgrounds because it gets so big.

I can almost understand no guns, but not knives.

Flea markets are a regular target of ATF raids because some folks are selling guns as part of their flea market business while lacking state and federal firearms licenses.

Millcreek FD east of Huntington runs a 90 gun ticket for $10 but it is in sept or oct.

A decent dealer should be able to help you out with the legalities of having a raffle.
When I had my license I used to run one for the local VFD, the best way is to find a sportsman club that will "sponsor" the raffle, makes it a whole lot easier.
