    Default Democrats against gun control

The fear was that a very weak Republican voice in the house and senate would open the flood gates to Democrat gun control. But I heard somewhere since the election that a lot of Democrats got elected this time around on traditional Republican platforms like pro gun rights. In fact I remember seeing many NRA endorsed Dems in their voting pamphlet. Anyone else hear about this? Maybe it won't be as bad as it seems.

Many of the Dems in Congress now are pro-2A, and with the exception of radical leftists like Pelosi, Reid, and Obama, most Dems remember that the last time they voted for gun control the Dems were slaughtered in the following election. I personally would go so far as to say that the Dem for for the assault weapons ban bought President Bush his second term. He was horribly unpopular even in '04, but people were to "gunshy" (if you'll pardon a pun) to vote for Dems and put their guns on the line.

The real problem, though, is that Obama, Reid, and Pelosi constitute the Dem leadership, and it will be costly for any dem Congressman or Senator to stand against them. Will they have the guts to do so?

It depends what the legislation is. I can see an AWB passing since most people aren't too keen on that particular issue. If a handgun ban or ammo ban comes down, I don't think the Dems prevail.
You're right a number of Dems are from pro-2A districts, and passing these bills could mean a ticket home. The Dem leadership will try to protect these congresspeople and senators by "letting" them block far left gun bans that were dead on arrival, sort of giving them "gun cred".

A lot the new Dems that got elected this cycle got elected because people voted for a party line, they hit Democrate instead of looking at each candidate. Most of the crooks that got elected this way will most likely lose their jobs if they vote anti-gun. All of use gun owners need to write our reps and let them know that we will be most displeased if they vote for any anti-gun laws, and we will do our best to ensure they get voted out of office.

I can think of a few pro-gun Democrats in the senate. A lot of the western Democrats are pro-gun. The new guy from Alaska is pro-gun. Our own Casey seems pretty pro-gun. But there are also a few anti-gun Republicans... so it can go either way.

Keep in mind - the REAL gun control in this country has been passed by the Republicans historically.

The superficial bullshit ones have been passed by Dems
The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.

"Firearm Owners Protection Act" - Regan - Republican is one of the most significant in letting down the US population and preventing them from being able to stand a chance against military and police forces by removing automatic weaponry.

Granted several have been passed by Dems as well but republicans aren't in the clear.

Its a bi-partisan screw job. Its just a matter of who ends up with their name on the paper.

True enough, but wasn't it a case of the "FOPA" being attached to the budget by the Dems in both houses? That was one of the tricks that they used to use when they had solid control of both houses in the past. They would attach an anti bill to something that absolutely had to be signed thereby ensuring that their anti legislation would get signed regardless of President.

Of the presidents for the gun ban, five at the time, 1 in office 4 past presidents, 3 were Republicans. All are just as bad as the other.
