Egenlauf noticed the contrast of people while standing in line at the courthouse to renew his license.
"In front of me was a guy who looked like he was in a biker gang, and behind me was a man wearing a three-piece suit," he said.

Re: Allegheny County tops list for CCW permits
State law doesn't guarantee license holders the right to privacy, but Allegheny County Sheriff William Mullen said he will not release their names.
"It's a sensitive issue," Mullen said. "People don't want their names released, and I don't think they should be."
§6111 (g) p3.1 of the PA UNIFORM FIREARMS ACT reads:
"Any person, licensed dealer, licensed manufacturer
or licensed importer who knowingly and intentionally obtains
or furnishes information collected or maintained pursuant to
section 6109 for any purpose other than compliance with this
chapter or who knowingly or intentionally disseminates,
publishes or otherwise makes available such information to
any person other than the subject of the information commits
a felony of the third degree".Last edited by HiredGoon; December 13th, 2008 at 05:37 PM.

Pittsburgh rated 10th most 'secure' metro area
Published in the SAME newspaper, SAME day ...
Pittsburgh rated 10th most 'secure' metro area
The fifth annual Farmers Insurance Group of Companies study ranked the Steel City as the 10th most secure place to live in the United States.
Pittsburgh ranked 10th out of 114 metropolitan areas with populations of 500,000 or more.

Coincidence ... I think not
Also ... As for the percentage of folks with a permit / LTCF, I believe the "nearly 5%" approximation is actually lower than in years past, I seem to recall a published figure of 5.6% as recently as a year or two ago ...

Re: Allegheny County tops list for CCW permits
Allegheny Co. only has 1 in 22.2 people that have their LTCF, where as Armstrong 1 in 4.1 have their LTCF, 2nd only to Forest County 1 in 4 have a LTCF.
And Yes Allegheny Co. has issued more LTCF's than any other county.

Re: Allegheny County tops list for CCW permits
The actual number of people carrying weapons is difficult to calculate because many do so illegally, state police spokeswoman Cpl. Lynette Quinn said.
Taken in context, one may also (too easily) infer from her statement that it is 'illegal' to carry any 'weapon' without an LTCF.

My favorite part of the article:
That means guns could be almost anywhere: soccer games, shopping malls, grocery stores or the opera.

With all those people carrying guns in Allegheny County how come they don't have all the problems that Philadelphia is having?
