Help me decide which scope to throw on which rifle

Ok so I currently have an 18" SPR~ish AR. It shoots right at 1 MOA with SS109 ammo. Plenty accurate, and at the moment it sports a vortex 1-4x Viper PST scope. Fairly nice glass, illuminated reticle.

So I recent picked up a VEPR 74. I was hoping to find a prism scope that would give me a decent eye relief, but failed... Come to find that the only way to do that is to get an acog. So i found a gen ii vortex strike eagle scope and snagged it up. It is a 1-8 power scope, no illuminated reticle, it has a bdc reticle but the bdc will work for it 5.56 or 5.45, and the glass is not quite as clear as the viper.

I would shoot the AR more often, in low light with a suppressor, so it would benefit more from the illuminated reticle.

The AR is more accurate probably.... Just basing off the fact that you can't really find "match grade" 5.45x39 ammo
Although I am curious on the military surplus vs military surplus comparison. So it would probbaly benefit more from the extra magnification. But it being " more accurate " it would also benefit from the better glass in the viper.


So do I switch the scopes around or throw the new scope on the new rifle?

I would have equiped more zoom to AR. Just for extra bulls eye visibility and better grouping.
Vepr is not an accuracy marvel so 1-4 is plenty.
Personally if I need to shoot for grouping I use no less than 12 magnification or more. My eyes are not the same anymore.

Big fan of the Viper PST on a AR15. I use that setup out to 300 yards in NRA High Power matches. Not a big fan of anything AKish with regards to mounting a scope and shooting for accuracy.
