Default Question about SP4-113 Application Record of Sale Form

Hi, I'm buying my first handgun, I never owned a gun before, but I've always wanted to shoot a gun and own one. I don't know a lot about buying one so I've been looking at the requirements and forms I would need to fill out before I try to buy. I read that in PA you need to get a background check and then fill out 2 forms, ATF Form 4473 and SP4-113 Application Record of Sale Form.

I have a question about SP4-113 Application Record of Sale Form, where it says employer & occupation.

On the application record of sale form, It says to write down employer address, and occupation. I do not know what to put under employer/occupation since I am a freelance graphic designer but I'm not registered as a business name since I work from home.

Do you need to be an actual registered business in order to put down yourself under employer? Or could I just state that I am a freelancer under occupation?

I would appreciate any help, thanks.

    Welcome to the forum.

We have several gun shop dealers on here who will probably chime in on this, but I would think you could just put SELF EMPLOYED and your home address.

    As mentioned above, Self Employed.

Fill out your own address then in that field.

I am an FFL. Just put down Self Employed and the address you work from. They don't ask anything about this when you undergo the background check but a copy of the form does go to the PSP Firearms Unit in Harrisburg. There have been people that have not been employed (students at PSU). I tell them to put down Student with address PSU. I have not ever been asked any followup questions about this either.

Thanks for your help. Do you need to put down your SSN or is that optional now?

SSN is OPTIONAL on both the state and the federal form. When doing the PICS the last four of the SSN is read back to the FFL. I ask my customers if thy want to write it on a piece of paper (the last 4) and I give it back to them after the call is done.

Thanks for your help. What is the SP4-113 form exactly for? Is it a registry? And do carry permit requirements differ in different counties?
