Default Ammo prices vs scrap metal prices

The extremely high scrap metal prices earlier this year have been the reason given for the rise in ammunition pricing, which makes perfect sense. After all it is a combo of two or more of the following; lead, copper, brass, alluminum, steel.
    HOWEVER:
In the past few months, the scrap prices have fallen drastically. Does anyone out there think we'll see the ammo prices follow the downward trend?

I figure it would stay higher at least until they get thru all the metal they purchased at the higher pricing, but then may come down as they start using the material they are buying at the current lower prices. On the other hand, once some manufactures (of any products) get their customers used to paying a higher price, it takes alot to get them to lower it again and take the same profit margin rather than leave it high and reap higher profits.

Just looking for opinions because I'd like to stock up again but I don't want to buy bulk amounts now, then see the prices fall and want to kick myself in the arse later.
    Thanks!

In reality, they're probably down, but there are some "opportunistic pricing strategies" going on right now which probably erase any savings we'd see.

However, 6 months ago, I noticed BMG ammunition had dropped in price.

but remember with the HUGE increase of gun sales recently there is also a large increase in ammo sales. So ammo is having a very large demand right now, and supplys are running low or out some places.

If production can catch up, demand drops from this spike, and metal prices remain low, then we may begin to see some price relief.

With the incoming Admin., don't look for lower prices.

I guess we can hope that by the time the manufacturers catch up to the demand from the panic-buying morons, said morons will run out of money with which to panic buy, leaving a huge surplus of guns and ammo for those of us who haven't been reading Chicken Little too much recently.

I'm looking forward to $80 cases of 7.62x39...

I reload lead bullets and the price dropped by a few bucks recently for a 500 rd box. These tips are made locally so I am sure they are more sensitive to their customers. I'm not holding my breath on other ammo dropping. Just like gas prices...everybody wants a cut before they drop.

It will never happen. I propose a wager. The price of the case of 7.62X39 on 11 DEC 09 will be the determining factor. If it is under $90 I will buy one for you, if it is over $100, you buy one for me $90-$100 will be a push. PM me for acceptance.

Be safe (and acquire ammo, one way or another).
