Stunning hard to upgrade Springfield Model 1861 manufactured by Savage, Contract “Cadet” rifle. This was a full size model 1861 shortened 8” for Military school use for younger boys. This unique piece has all the same functions as it’s full size counterpart like the ability to accept a socket bayonet. Lock and barrel dated 1863 N.J. state marked on both the stock and barrel.
