WARWICK – Town of Warwick Police seized a gun belonging to advice columnist E. Jean Carroll in February after she said during testimony in her defamation lawsuit against former President Donald Trump that she possessed an unlicensed firearm at home.

Warwick Police Chief John Rader confirmed that he visited Carroll’s Warwick home on February 16 of this year and took into possession, for the purposes of safekeeping, a Hi Standard Double Nine revolver from her.

“The handgun was voluntarily turned in while Ms. Carroll goes through the court process of obtaining a New York State pistol permit,” Rader said. “The gun was checked through a database and was not connected to any crimes or incidents either locally or nationally. The process followed is consistent with how Orange County handles a voluntary surrender with the facts of this case.”
