    Default NRA Top 5 Pistols

Just read an article about NRA top 5 pistols overall and top 5 self defense pistols. I think the top 5 is pretty close to spot on, top self defense?

    Top 5 overall:

    Hi Power
    Glock 17
    Beretta 92
    HK P7 (my favorite gun)
    CZ 75

    Top 5 Self Defense:

    Glock 17
    Glock 21sf
    Beretta 92
    Ruger GP 100
    Springfield 1911

I do not currently, and will never own a glock.

Is self defense defined as carry only or all self defense? Lots of full size pistols on that list, most modern folks aren't carrying a 1911 or beretta 92 or a revolver of any sorts.

Yeah, that's someone's choice of guns just not mine. The 1911 and Glock 17 are probably the two most sold pistols and maybe the Beretta 92 in a distant third. The others are more of curio collection of pistols. Not having a p226 or p220 on the list pretty much pretty much puts the author's credentials as a gun writer into question.

Wonder how they determined that list, pretty good list but I can’t see the P7 making top 5. It’s a great gun with a unique design, until you do a few mag dumps with it.

Glock was tops in their writing due to being the Timex of guns - takes a licking and keeps on ticking in their words! I agree, but then again who am I - I carry a Glock 95% of the time because it always goes boom and higher capacity! For my carry gun, I want something I can always rely on. They mentioned the crazy testing/abuse done on Glocks and they still are still reliable too.
For "defense" they didn't actually say, but I'm assuming overall not just carry because as mentioned, most are larger pistols.

Even more interesting they just put top 5 rifles for home defense - a head scratcher for some

    SKS Carbine
    M1 Carbine
    Winchester 1892 in 357 mag
    Ruger 10/22
    Colt M4
