Re: Opening Day Results
I got a big doe at about 12:30 from my stand. My friend and I didn't see any other deer though. I'm thinking about food plotting the property next year.
My wife and I will hunt tomorrow afternoon. I'll probably get in a morning or afternoon hunt every day of the season."When the winds of change blow hard enough, the most trivial of things can become deadly projectiles." - Unknown.

Re: Opening Day Results
Saw a small button buck right around 11am. Not a thing the rest of the day except other peoples'. One guy got a nice 8 pointer. A few nice does taken. Gonna get back out first thing in the morning, unfortunately I'll be working the rest of the week so I can only be out in the woods till around 11am.

Centre County
Saw a big 6 point. Was about to take a shot but thought I'd get a better one (had a front and wanted side) but the fucker saw me and bolted. I should have taken the shot but I make sure my shots are clean.

Re: Opening Day Results
At 9:20 this morning I got my biggest deer so far. He is a 9 point with a 15 inch inside spread. He was with 2 doe and a spike buck that had gotten jumped in a drive. Now he is at the butcher. Heading back to camp tomorrow to try and fill a bear tag.

Re: Opening Day Results
pretty common in PA, means it is an old dear (probably 3+ years old) with a very low protein diet so not much antler growth... thats the kind of deer that would benefit massively from a protein / salt / mineral (whatever they are called now) lick.
We have a 5 pointer running around here that probably goes 150 - 175 pounds... gotta be a 3+ year old deer but where he runs there is no protein, its all grasses and weeds / leaves. Meanwhile a mile away we have 3 deer that would gross 140" min and look like they weight about 140 - 150... the farmer planted Soy Bean in their usual stomping ground and they have been in it every night since it sprouted until it got cut down. The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.
