Apple River Wisconsin Stabbing

This morning I watched a video showing a group of teenagers get into a altercation with a man. The man was looking for a phone that was lost in the river. When a group of teenagers were floating in inner tubes got in the way of the man he started yelling at them to move. They started yelling back and things began to get physical. He ends up stabbing a few of them and one 17 year old boy dies from his wounds.

The man is claiming self defense but it is not a clear cut case (at least from my perspective). I'll post the video here. It shows blood and has language so NSFW.

The trial is going on now. All the kids were drunk and high. They can't remember anything. It's going to be a interesting case.

I think their mic gain is up too high and it's hard to understand. I couldn't see what started the physical part of it but I saw a bunch of them ganging up on the guy and pushing him down. I couldn't even see when a knife came into it. I can see how the guy could be scared enough to
pull one out and start wielding it.

Without the slowed down version I wouldn't of known he stabbed that many people. Crazy how fast everything happened.

the kids were multiple assailants and presented a reasonable and articulable threat. 17 year olds are adult sized even if their mental capacity is still that of a 12 year old. 1 vs 4-5 assailants is a reasonable situation where sever physical injuries could be inflicted.
Also Their physical assault reasonably could have left him incapacitated in the river and drowned him.
The kids refused to back off even after he presented a knife and told them to back away from him and even increased their aggression.
The assailants were under the influence of drugs and alcohol, so reasoning with them was not an option

Guilty or not, the guy stabbed a girl (possibly juvenile) about 5* tall and 90lbs right in the side. If you watch enough it almost looked like he went out of his to get to her to make a point. Just an all around bad situation for all involved. IMO he could have safely retreated very early in the encounter and avoided it all.

Jim, girls want to be men, so now they are treated as such. Good call. Just feel bad for the kids parents/family.
We were stoopid back in the day and probably deserved the say in some situations. I blame it on phones and social media. And the media.
