Default 1911 for carry. a production or a custom model?

Just want to gauge the room on thoughts on a 1911 for carry. Knowing all the advantages/disadvantages which make/model would you carry?

I would not put any more money into it than I had to.

Even a high point would be suitable for the distances from which you should be using it, should you have to use it.

Lol, that your preferred choice of carry gun?

To answer the OP*s question. 1911 wouldn*t be my first choice to carry for many reasons, but if I did I*d get one known for reliability and shoot it a lot to confirm reliability. I*d go with a Staccato, technically a 2011 but very reliable guns.

I carry 1911 always! Most reliable gun ever made, won two World Wars, and several minor ones. Get one in the everyday variety, not a really expensive one with scary-looking grips and a red laser. Those things really don*t play well in front of a jury. Also, go with off the shelf ammo, and not the *Limb Ripper 6000* either. Get a good, reliable name brand ammo.

    What*s limb ripper ammo?

I*d suggest a hollow point such as HST or gold dots, and make sure your 1911 feeds them reliably, cause no matter what anyone says 1911*s are ammo sensitive when it comes to hollow points, some more than others.
