Why didn't they test one with the FN CHF barrel?

Cause they wanted to see how the cheap one held up. The FN CHF barrel would do much better but they*re also double the price.

I thought it was a pretty good test on a basic upper, did pretty good imo.

It was interesting to see them point out the areas of wear on the BCG.
That sort of thing is where you can see the difference between budget parts and high quality parts.
It was pretty much as expected overall, but I was impressed that the barrel didn't crap out sooner.

I think their budget barrels still use 4150, that*s good steel.

I think the vast majority of people will never shoot a PSA upper enough to wear it out.

With the PSA kits I have done, I think for the money they are great value. I built a rifle last year for just over 3 fiddy all in.

One could make the argument you could have 10 of these on hand easily and if one "wears out", it's an easy swap over to another one or switch parts out.

New York reload, baby! AR15 style!

Why buy a 60 rd drum mag when you can almost buy another rifle for the same price? LOL

Pretty sure that their intended message was "Stay away - it's better to PAY", but I think he just sold a few hundred thousand more rifles for PSA.

Spoiler: Barrel gets shot out - BCG is inspected thoroughly and... (watch the video)

I wouldnt call the barrel "shot out" yes the groups opened up but milspec is like 4-5moa anyway but 6k rounds of fullauto is like 12-15k of slow semiauto shots. Heat is what kills barrels and most people wont shoot 6k let alone 12k

I have to say most people do at least basic maintenance somewhere in that 440 rounds by running a cleaning patch and a brush down the pipe and calling it good enough,
maybe cleaning up the bolt too. I use synthetic motor oil as a lube
Maybe now a bunch of newbs will be like "Ohhh Noo!" i havta sellit becuz some interwebz douche says it will faill!!"" and dump their PSAs for pennies on the dollar just like all the "Milspec" bs hype years ago and ramp configurations. Basically:
Does it work? Yes? Good dont fuck with it
    Does it Not work?
    Why?
What does it take to make it work?
do you have the skills to fix it? No? Sell it .
Yes? fix it and shoot it
