    Default placement of vintage eastern euro rifle sling?

    Here's what I got. Want to place it on an older lever rifle.
    Leather side on butt or forearm?
    Have searched and seen both ways.

    The leather side would attach to the "front" part of the firearm, so the other portion would be attached to the butt end.
