    Default My First Draw (Almost)

I had my first near draw last night.

I went to CVS for a soda, and as I was getting out of my car, this girl comes running and screaming towards the door. Now keep in mind it's 12:15 at night and the lot is empty. So I pop the clasp on my holster and watch as a guy comes running behind her, and I see this, and my gun is coming out of the holster and about to order him to freeze and drop when she yells "I beat you" and laughs.

I wanted to smack her for being so stupid as to run through an empty parking lot at night like she was being chased.

Wow. I'm glad you weren't overly hasty. That could have been bad. That is a bit late to be running through a parking lot screaming.

Yeah, or just run, don't scream. Just don't make it look like your in danger. I understand with the right to carry comes the responsibility to help someone in danger if you can.

Glad things cleared up when they did! On a personal note, my wife is a nurse at Lankanau and stops at the CVS I believe you were at after work (around midnight) a couple times a week for milk, baby formula, etc. I CC around here everyday and routinly get made fun of (nothing EVER happens on the main line!) by my friends. I feel a little safer now, its comforting to know that if it was my wife and she was indeed getting chased, someone would have done something to help her. THANKS!

+1 to ya, you were prepared to help someone that looked like they needed it, but didnt 'jump the gun' (pun intended).

Yeah--props for being prepared, more props for being alert, and a few extra for NOT drawing when the situation became clear.

+1 indeed, Always verify the situation before you end up getting yourself in trouble.

My roommate is from Wayne and constantly gives me hell for carrying out your way. Better to be prepared than not.

My (Almost) occurred about 8 years ago.

I was leaving work in Homewood PA, and a guy was yelling at me and quickly walking towards me. He had something in his had that looked just like a steak knife. I got my hand on the grip and started to pull my gun. Two of my co workers saw what was going on from inside the warehouse and yelled, "It's ok, He doesn't want it." I was confused and the guy stopped approaching me.

He was trying to sell me a putty knife / scraper. He was holding by the handle and the flat blade was turned in a way that made it look like a knife.

I won't ever forget that day. I almost shot a guy over a putty knife.
