If they can't take the guns, they'll take our ability to practice with them. Neat.

A very well-written explanation and critical account of the corrupt PA Supreme Court's position relative to the Second Amendment of the US Constitution and their disdain for the rights of PA citizens. As PAFOA members, it should be our mission to support the votes to unseat these haphazard justices!

🚫Pennsylvania’s high court sides with township over its ban of a backyard gun range
C'mon man can't have nothing slap.gif
HARRISBURG, Pa. — A township ordinance that limits firing guns to indoor and outdoor shooting ranges and zoning that significantly restricts where the ranges can be located do not violate the Second Amendment, Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court ruled Wednesday.
The man who challenged Stroud Township’s gun laws, Jonathan Barris, began to draw complaints about a year after he moved to the home in the Poconos in 2009 and installed a shooting range on his 5-acre (2.02-hectare) property. An officer responding to a complaint said the range had a safe backstop but the targets were in line with a large box store in a nearby shopping center.

Having attended oral argument, there is no way that Philly will be successful with that challenge. They *may* get one Justice to vote in their favor, but it was hard being in the courtroom with how hard they were hammering Philly's counsel. While she was (by far) the best orator of any of the arguers, the Justices just kept hammering her that if they were to rule in Philly's favor, it would be a political ruling and any trial that would occur thereafter in the Commonwealth Court, would be a circus with the judge simply making a political decision because both parties are going to put up experts on the harm of preemption both existing and not existing. Almost all the justices echoed that such is an issue for the General Assembly, not the courts.

I think most support zoning laws. For example, my sub-division is zoned residential, preventing my neighbor from buying a 7-11 franchise and setting up shop on his property. Safety reasons notwithstanding, nor would I want him to open an indoor/outdoor gun range.

Well that is a little bit of good news! I did not get a warm and fuzzy feeling for the outcome of that case after reading the final lines of the lead opinion of this one.
While safety issues which were touched upon in this case, a neighbor not liking target shooting and then the municipality eventually passing a restrictive ordinance after a lot of complaining seems to be what really started it. For example, Stroud Township treats wanting to test a few rounds out your new 22 LR rifle on your property of a number of acres as basically requiring you to go through the same effort as opening a public shooting range in much of the Township. Stretched to its logical conclusion, this case could be used to end target practice on all but government sanctioned shooting ranges in many areas, regardless of actual safety risks.

A well founded cleaning out of present government officials is necessary to a free state.
Corruption is the default behavior of government officials. JPC
