Glock has already manufactured a projection on the newly manufactured frames to block the installation of the Glock Switch or a "Glock switch like back plate". There is NO reason to remove it other than to install a switch.

Removal of the backplate is necessary to maintain/clean (for example) the firing pin and firing pin block safety. Perhaps an illustration would clear up this seeming conflict.

The anti-gun fetishists tried that a few decades back, with the manufactured hysteria over "undetectable plastic guns". Then most police departments started using them, after aggressive marketing by Glock.

There's still a statute somewhere that I believe outlaws all-plastic guns, but I'm too lazy to look it up.

I have not seen it yet, but I believe what ar15jules is saying, is that you can remove the back plate, but the projection prevents adding anything other than the unmodified, OEM style back plate.

As usual, the scam is to ban "Glock switches and other similar devices". Guess what they will cram into "other similar devices"? Binary triggers, hand cranks, bump stocks, string, rubber bands, bump-firing off your belly, etc. Maybe all aftermarket triggers.

No. With the magazine disconnect the pistol will not fire the round in the chamber if the magazine is removed.

I personally like the ability to fire the round in the chamber if I have to, while doing a magazine reload.
