Who makes the best AR15 ?

I'm shopping for my very first AR15 rifle and I don't know much about it.In the service I used the AKM (AK-47) Romanian made.I'm looking for QUALITY and MIL SPECS for my new AR15.I'd rather spend a few extra $$$$$ and get it right the first time.What do you say? COLT or BUSHMASTER ? Thanks !

Couldn't give a crap about Colt anymore. They better hope FN doesn't decide to really go after the next M4 contract or sell to the public. Figure on what FN has on contract right now: M16A4, SCAR, 240, 249, and a few M2 variations.

4Depend what kind of shooting you want to do with it. if all you are interested in is popping cans and bottles any of the lower priced ones will do. I own and have shot my Colt H-Bar competively for years. Bought a Les Baer and have never looked back. Understand that the sights are extremely important. For shooting in the Service matches or the NRA Matches open sights are needed. No scopes here. No ifs, and or buts, the finest most accurate (and expensive) Ar out there. I do realize there are some costum rifles ( space guns) out there that can compete with the bair, but i this caliber of competion it boils down to the shooter.
Some of the guys I shoot with have the Compass Lake, Bushmaster, and other assorted makes, but, none of them compare to the Baer.
Shoot one and you will see what I am talking about.

HK 416 is the best AR15 if you can get your hands on one. If not the HK MR556 is hands down the best. probably the most expensive.
It was designed by the US SOCOM, used by navy seals and elite special forces. Bin Laden was killed by a HK416.
The LMT CBQ556 piston is very close to the HK MR556. both guns are short stroke piston driven. Watch the you tube video comparing the HK vs the Colt M4.

I like Stag Arms as I just bought one. Their parent company makes most parts for Colt and S&W. For the price, the quality is amazing and their customer service is top notch.

seriously, though, you'll get all kinds of opinions on this question.

perhaps the most common answer will be colt...since that is what the military uses. i would not disagree, but they are considerably more expensive than other brands, and there are many other makers of high quality ARs.

stag is the same quality as bushmaster (and RRA, etc. etc.) for significantly less money. stag is the retail outlet of CMT (continental machine and tool) which makes many of the parts that other manufacturers put into their ARs. in fact, the smith & wesson M&P AR15 is a re-branded stag with a higher price tag.

if you want to spend more, go for it, but in the world of ARs, higher price does not necessarily mean higher quality, so don't assume one maker is better than another just because their rifles are more expensive.

actually, come to think of it, lycanthrope prolly makes the best ARs
