The question who makes the best AR-15, for QUALITY and MIL SPECS.
Look no further than the Knight SR-25, it was designed by the Eugene Stoner who I will refer to as the father of the AR's.
The U.S. Navy SEALs adopted the 7.62 x 51 mm SR25 sniper rifle, made by Knight’s Armament Company, of Vero Beach, Fla.
The SR 25 is available to both the civilian and military market place.

The SR25 in my opinion is the best of the best and since you said that $$$$ didn't matter the SR25 with it's over $5,000 price shouldn't be a problem. I bought one over 12 year ago at lot better price and whenever I have her at the range for a test drive she's the center of attention.

Word is that SOCOM can't keep them running in Iraq-i-stan. And Reed Knight has been about as helpful as H&K re: customer service.

I don't doubt for a minute your test drive's are popular and your rifle runs. I've seen them run well in classes but in the abusive environment of a theater of combat, they don't seem to be holding up well. It is, after all, a precision instrument.

SOCOM's application re: the SR25 is as a precision rifle. An AK will never be accurate enough.

I'm shopping for my very first AR15 rifle and I don't know much about it.In the service I used the AKM (AK-47) Romanian made.I'm looking for QUALITY and MIL SPECS for my new AR15.I'd rather spend a few extra $$$$$ and get it right the first time.What do you say? COLT or BUSHMASTER ? Thanks !

Just haveing fun with you but like many have already said there is probably no "correct" answer to your question. There are several top flight manufactures in the AR-15 market place these days. I would venture to say that there really aren't many "bad" one because the free market quickly takes care of that problem.

I was on there website just now looking at the rifles. They were very nice, so I decided to give them a call about the carbine build kit. Unfortunately, the guy I talked to said they weren't building any M96's anytime soon, so they didn't have any kits in stock. He said it might be up to six months to a year before they had the kits in.
