Seem everyone has their favorite, and for all the right reasons, mine are the Colt & Rock River. and they as well as all the others make a fine rifle. But Stag does make a left hand model. No clear answer to this question.

it shot great if you were using live rounds no jams or misfeeds. if you used blanks then it was quite choppy. but blanks are never as good as live rounds so not much you can expect. but yea shooting from a mag was fine. i think the brand new ones dont have a mag port. dont quote me but i think i remember seeing one that was new and didnt have a mag port. i had an older one so mine did.

Talking Re: Who makes the best AR15 ?

Sorry to come so late to the party but, I'm a FNG member.....

I have a statement to add and a couple of questions.....

I own a pair of Bushmaster ARs. I bought them 5-6 years ago? They are both standard or basic models. I bought them new in the box from a guy that was hard up for cash. All that being said? They have shot accurately. Maybe not sniper accurately but, I haven't expected them to. They have accurately killed everything I've shot with them and have hit wherever i've aimed @ the range. I clean them when done shooting but, am not a cleaning freak. They have both jammed but only a couple of times when they have gotten really hot. And that's in thousands and thousands of rounds fired by friends, family and myself.

    That's my experience.

    My questions are......

I am now looking to buy a new AR.

    What about the Armalite?

What about the Sig .556? How does it fit in?

    And lastly......

    What about...

    gas piston vs gas impingement?

    Thanks!!!
    Fire.......It's what's for ZOMBIES.....

I answered with the only one of the two rifles that was MILSPEC.

    Bushy isnt even close.

A custom built rifle? Yummy. Most are not milspec. Some are worse, many are even better than milspec.

Out of the box, QUALITY AND MILSPEC - Colt and LMT. Nothing else is production made milspec period.
If the original poster would have asked what kind of AR you can get for a decent price and make run like a champ.... I would have told him other rifles.

My latest battle b*tch is a Stag upper on a Double Star lower with a few fixes/custom parts added for reliability. It runs like a Colt for $775

IMHO, stick with the DI AR platforms. The DNA of the DI ARs are all rooted to the guns first used in SEA. SIG is what, pope-police hoping to catch on commercially?

No matter what happens after the comet hits the Earth and wakens the zombies, AR parts will be available. Along with a ton of - relative to the SIG - affordable and available aftermarket stuff.

IMHO the better question is, what AR's to avoid?
Has anyone had trouble with any manufacturer?

Yes, the can o worms. Every brand has had good and bad info posted on them somewhere on the net.

IMHO, one would be better served by looking over as many ARs as you can at the funstore or funshows. Find the one/two/few that you like and fits your wallet - since you have to pay for it. Then take the time and Google each for posts on the specific model.

You could end up with everything from Youtube vids to problem report discussions. Read and learn and make up your own mind based on your own criteria of what is important to you.

Check out "The Chart" this gives you information on what Mil Spec truly means and who manufactures rifles that meet those criteria. If you shop around, you willl find that you can stay to the left of the chart for very similar $$$:

This does not mean that you have to trash your Bushy/Rock River/Stag etc. They all work fine under most circumstances. If truly want "Mil Spec" however, this will point you in the right direction as to what it is and from whom it is available.

+1 for sticking with DI for the time being. Every piston system if proprietary at this point and the only ones .mil is using are HK416s and FN SCARs. You are not going to find a ton of parts out there if yours goes down. If you have a carbine length or rifle length DI gun, there are parts all across the globe.
