Re: Who makes the best AR15 ?
For the ABSOLUTE best......there is only one.

Enjoy.
The Wylde chamber is a bit tighter than 5.56 chambers, but not as tight as the .223. It's designed for a bit better accuracy than the 5.56 chamber while still being able to handle the higher pressure.

Oh OK.....I'd also really consider a SPR build from ADCO.

Re: Who makes the best AR15 ?
A recent article in SWAT magazine detailed a class at the Boone Co. Sheriff's dept. where every RRA rifle had to have it's chamber reamed.
Buckmark is correct. You can shoot .223 ammo in a 5.56 but 5.56 typically exhibits problems in chambers cut to .223 SAMMI specs.
ETA: 5.56 in blue text cuz it didn't make sense. Brain fade.Last edited by TonyF; March 21st, 2007 at 11:32 PM.

Re: Who makes the best AR15 ?
I'm sure that's true but unless it's a very high quality barrel the improvement in accuracy is probably insignificant.
There is no free lunch.
You want an accurate AR15? Use a Noveske or Lilja barrel.
You want a weapon to fight with? Get a Colt 6920.
You want both? Get a complete Upper from Noveske or have Wes Grant build you one of his masterpieces.
I apologize if this comes across as abrasive but again, there is no free lunch.
I've been attending and helping teach carbine courses for 10 years. I've yet to see someone shoot better than 1.5 MOA at 50 yards from unsupported prone. As Rush says, for those of you in Realinda, that's 3 MOA at 100 yards. That's std. barrels and 5.56 chambers and that's PLENTY accurate.
ETA: MOA intrinsic accuracy is just about meaningless "under stress", "in the field" unless the application is countersniper with precision rifles.Last edited by TonyF; March 21st, 2007 at 05:52 PM.

Rack grade Bushmaster hands down!!!!!! If you want a rifle all tricked out for CMP and NRA matches http://www.compasslake.com/ Frank makes the rifle for at least two members of the Pa. state service rifle team!
My two cents Rick

Re: Who makes the best AR15 ?
Finally, someone brought up bulleye shooting-begining to think I'm the only one. Ataboy Rick. Well KIGY, what do you want to use it for. If your doing bulleye shooting you probably don't want a car stock. If your planning on shooting in USPSA matches you probably don't want a 20" bull barrel. I defer to Lycanthrope and Tony F for their expertise. But you should determine what you want to do with it otherwise you find yourself owning 5.

Re: Who makes the best AR15 ?
Oh, I don't know. All my guns (even the Model 1 kit) shoots under 1 MOA with 69gr SMK and Varget (OK, after a few thousand bump fired rounds that gun is likely starting to throat out). The Clark Gator is guaranteed to shoot .5 MOA and the White Oak did it without blinking.
Every AR I ever floated and had a decent crown would shoot. I do not, however, ever get chrome lined. It occasionally will flake in the throat area. Since I'm not in harsh environments I don't choose it.
