Default What is high pressure ammo

Hi. I was looking at 9mm ammo. Some of Winchester is tagged as high pressure. I did some googling and found that it’s for military. Are these ok to fire from Glock 17 or Beretta Centurion? I believe military use Glock 17 too.

Another question regarding Sig Sauer 9mm Luger 124 gr FMJ. I read in the Q&A that these are recommended for Sig pistols. Is that right? Or could it be safely shot from Glock or Beretta?

The "high pressure" Winchester stuff is propbably their NATO loaded FMJ, which will be fine in a glock or Beretta (after all the army did issue beretta 92's with NATO spec ammo for a few decades)

The "recommended for Sig" line is just marketing, it will be fine in other 9mm's

Head stamp is not visible. Bullets are flat nose like S&W .40.

Sounds like just regular +P. Likely to have some minor impact on wear over thousands of rounds but that's about it, so long as the gun is spec'ed for it.

There has historically been some uber-strong SMG-use-only stuff that crops up at times though. Usually foreign from what I've seen

Is Glock 17 Gen 5 +p or +P+ rated? How do I find out?

https://us.glock.com/en/faqs about half a dozen sections down their FAQs. Figure easier than someone speculating

I would write to Winchester. Ask them for specific meaning of the term "high pressure".

There is a 9mm +P SAAMI standard. If they wanted to use it, they should use it.

I do not trust non-SAAMI "standards". Examples would be 380 ACP +P or of that sort.
