Study the owl feather--you will have to do it by photos because if you find a feather in the woods and pick it up, some bureaucrat (unelected mind you) will bring charges against you. You will be fascinated by the structure of the feather, it almost looks like fur. That's why they can fly next to you and you will never hear them. Even though I have Native American blood, I can't pick one up because they're protected and it's a felony. Probably no one would care about feathers if we hadn't made them famous. But seriously, find a close up of one and see how they interlock. Feathers are fascinating.
