Thanks. I have a 500A (I think), the stamping is a little sloppy.
    30.5" overall length, 20.5" barrel.
    Def not a truck gun!

I have one of the 590 Shockwaves, and for poops & giggles after I got it I tried some "deployments" in my GMC Siera's drivers seat. It is wield-able, but not as easily as a handgun. Certainly far more wield-able than any longer shotgun/rifle though.

When I do have it in the truck, I lay it down with muzzle facing the passenger side on the floor behind the center console. Then reach back with right arm, grab it at receiver. Bringing the muzzle end up and swinging around to the drivers door area while in the process of putting left hand on the slide grip and slipping my right hand back to the grip itself.

Note, adding the bird's head grip and 14" barrel to a shotgun that already had a stock and a longer barrel apparently DOES trigger the NFA. It's frickin' weird...

So, you can put the grip on that shotgun, but don't mess much with the barrel. 18" minimum applies.

Indeed, it would probably be easier, cheaper, and faster to just buy a Shockwave.
I got mine used for a very good price. I'm happy with it as it is.

    Correct.

"Firearm made from a shotgun" <18" barrel is NFA. OAL doesn't matter.
Firearm from a virgin receiver <18" barrel >26" OAL is OK.

I found the shockwave to be just too big, so after getting an approved Form 1, I made it smaller.

If a "shotgun" was manufactured with a shoulder stock - it can only turn into a SBS.

These Shockwave type firearms, and pistol grip only shotguns(never having had a shoulder stock), are considered "other firearms". You could turn one into an AOW by removing the birdshead and putting on a "pistol grip", or turn one into an SBS by putting a shoulder stock on it. For the gun to remain an "other firearm" it must exceed 26" OAL, which that birdshead grip accomplishes. ...using the ATF's logic, which is in our favor, but as I mentioned prior - there is no OAL description in law to set a 26" OAL length threshold.

Oh great, thanks a lot. Now I'm adding this to my shopping list.

Next to decide whether to load bird, buck, or slugs.

Get this minishell adapter from Defender Tactical, and you can load all of the above, plus mini shells, without having to remove the adapter.
