Default Dusting off a Remington 1100

I have an older 1100 3*mag that I want to clean up and use for skeet/home defense. The bluing has been worn off by the feed ramp so I*m assuming it*s been used a fair bit. Interesting enough I also found a stick in the tube that somebody had been using to plug the mag tube.

What parts should I look for in terms of wear and possible replacement? I*ll be taking the gun out this weekend to check for function etc.

I would change give it a good cleaning and change the O-ring (and get a spare). But besides that the 1100's are very reliable.

You may need to find a 2 3/4 barrel to reliability cycle light target skeet loads. The 3 in barrel gas port is smaller because 3 in shells don't need as much gas to cycle

You can also find slug barrels pretty easy too in case you planned on using it for deer hunting & they change easy too. The stick was probably in there to limit the number of rounds in the tube since there are
maximum loaded shell restrictions in most states especially for duck & goose hunting.

I would buy a few of the rubber o rings as stated above. You shouldn't have any issues shooting light loads. After you clean the barrel, make sure the gas ports are clear. Sometimes cleaning jams debris in there. I LOVE the wooden plug. You can buy a new plastic one made by Remington if you wish, but the wood gives it some character.

I am not affiliated with Brownell's or Sportsman's Warehouse. Just showing examples of what I mentioned.

First and probably the last time. It was 40 years ago.
Sticks and stones will break my bones but hollow points expand on impact.

I’m also about to refurb an 1100. Got one from family a couple years ago… haven’t shot it since I was a teenager.
