The ATF estimates this proposed rule will affect under 10,000 people. So why do people think it will secretly apply to another 50 million?
10,000 with this rule 10,000 with that rule. Then another 1,000 rules.

Because the ATF has such a long history of being honest and not trying to sneak things through.

the goal is to make anyone who owns anything firearm related show up on as many lists as possible. not sure i buy how this will help people like fire fighters. is the county dispatcher going to get a system notification based on the address that says this person has explosives?

The Democrat Tyranny is coming from every direction. We are being run by all the Democrat graduates of the Cloward and Piven educational system. Overwhelm the system until it collapses on itself. Clearly they are provoking Civil War that allows them to instill martial law, which is their Libtard wet dream.

Someone need to actually read the regulation (and try to understand it). Its the obvious link at the top of the page in post one.

If anyone bothered they would see the people storing these explosive already had to notify the fire authorities. All this proposal does is make them do it every year and notify them if they no longer are storing the explosives.

The amount of irrational paranoia, ignorance and made up fantasies on Poofa can be mind boggling.........

For me, the main issue is this bit: "a copy of each written notification must be maintained by the person submitting the notification for five years from the date of notification and made available for examination or inspection by an ATF officer at all reasonable times."

End of the world? No. However, most of us aren't too keen on any laws or rules that give the ATF the authority to show up and start making demands whenever they feel like it. They spend the bulk of their day going after law-abiding citizens on trivial bullshit rather than going after illegally armed gangs and such, so the inherent distrust most gun owners have of them is well warranted. There's clearly an ulterior movitve there as well - like getting a peak at the storage location and its contents. Otherwise, why not just go to the fire authority who has a copy of everyone's notifications and review the document there?

There is one member here who does deal in high explosives and very exotic stuff so I will wait for his input on this and if he thinks it matters. This will likely affect him and he will know much more than any of us do.

I will go away for now. Not much more to say.
