Re: Paul Harrell has Pancreatic Cancer
It's a shame, but i'd imagine having to constantly think about my impending and unavoidable death would make it very difficult to enjoy what little time he has left. he can do what he wants, he doesn't owe anyone anything.

Re: Paul Harrell has Pancreatic Cancer
I have stage 4 cancer. When I heard that my life flashed before my eyes. Though I was dead right then. "Stage 4" means that the cancer has spread to at least one other organ from where it started. Mine has spread to two. Started in the colon and has spread to the peritoneum and liver. My doctor tells me it will eventually kill me. Right now though, after 6 months of chemo, it is in remission. Next week I have an appointment to see if it's still in remission. They say if you can get 5 years in a row of clean scans you can be considered cancer free. The chemicals they use today are a lot different and can definitely put cancer at bay more often than in years past. In two weeks it'll be my one year anniversary from the diagnosis. July was my last chemo treatment.
It definitely puts a damper on your life's perspective. I've had to retire before I had planned. I have other issues too, which add to my dreary outlook on things. The way I lived when I was younger I never expected to live this long, as such, didn't plan for my future properly. So here I am, 65 retired, nothing to do, no energy to do it if I had, with cancer, obesity, bad knees and much, much more.
Cancer sucks, but with today's medicine it can be beaten, if you catch it early enough. Don't put off a colonoscopy if your over 40 (lowered from 50). By the time I realized something was wrong with symptoms I already had the cancer.
