Default Applying for a LTCF? Question 3

For those of you who are applying for a LTCF in Lancaster Co. I felt question 3 was misleading. The sheriff said if he was given a dollar for every person who made the mistake on question 3 he would be retired on a tropical island. For question 3 you're to put your local police dept, for instance I live in Rothsville so I should have put Warwick Police and not Lancaster Co. Sheriff Dept. FYI

    See application:

They shouldn't even ask that question or have that form anyway...just the LTCF app that is prescribed by the PSP. I know, you have to follow the procedure in place, but it's strange that some counties require this local police check thing.

I do believe that form is in violation of 18Pa.C.S.§6109(c)

    6109(c) states:
    (c) Form of application and content.--The application for a
license to carry a firearm shall be uniform throughout this
Commonwealth and shall be on a form prescribed by the
Pennsylvania State Police. The form may contain provisions, not
exceeding one page, to assure compliance with this section.
Issuing authorities shall use only the application form
prescribed by the Pennsylvania State Police.
Provisions is synonymous with stipulation. So the application may contain up to one age of stipulations to ensure compliance with this section. IOW: Instructions.

    Not another form!

IANAL but I would be advising the LC Sheriff that they need to change this to be in compliance with the law.

Well I filled at both forms, this is the other form: http://www.co.lancaster.pa.us/sherif..._LANCASTER.pdf

    Here's Lancaster's website: http://www.co.lancaster.pa.us/sherif...p?a=3&q=577251

Waiting time is 3-4 weeks. I have to wait for a postcard in the mail notifying me whether I've been approved, if I am approved then I return the postcard to the sheriff with my driver's license and after I get my mug shot I get my permit afterwards. I have no criminal record and I have nothing against me so I'll just sit and wait.

By the way, one of you may recognize me; I was a Venice Pizza on Sunday.

    Pa Patirot,
Are you saying the Lancaster County Sheriff may not require the use of this 2nd form as well for their own internal office use while still submitting the given form to the State Police?

That is how I'm interpreting the statute.

Yeah I live over here in Ephrata, and I just put "Ephrata Borough Police Department" and they said that was done correctly.

Congrats on applying for a LTCF! it took me 9 days (including a weekend) to get it!
