    You don*t need to fill out any paperwork to transfer a long gun to another pa resident if they can legally own a handgun.

    Similar thing here. You can give a handgun to a daughter without paperwork as long as they are 18. Check out the statute yourself.

    Are you the actual buyer of the firearm(s), as defined under 18 Pa.C.S. § 6102 (relating to definitions), listed on this application/record of sale? Warning: You are not the actual buyer if you are acquiring the firearm(s) on behalf of another person, unless you are legitimately acquiring the firearm as a gift for any of the following individuals who are legally eligible to own a firearm:
    (1) spouse;
    (2) parent;
    (3) child;
    (4) grandparent; or
    (5) grandchild.

    That is correct. I doubt you'll find a sheriff to do it these days. Most refuse to do any transfers anymore.

    I owned my first handgun when I was 18. My father bought it a few years earlier and gifted it to me when I turned 18. I took it with me to my first apartment when I moved out at 19. All perfectly legal.
