What does the letter say? Is it just a warning? Or does ATF want to schedule a visit?

I didn't see the letter. He told me about it over the phone in very sketchy manner due to being upset and pissed. I believe the letter contained a phone number by which the "illegal" device may be surrendered to ATF.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

Just because an item was "purchased" at some point (which I would never actually confirm) doesn't mean I still have it. If they think I'm breaking the law "right now", THEY have to prove possession, I don't have to prove I don't have it.

They dont care if you dont surrender them, they are putting letters out so you know they are illegal and if caught with it theyll push for stiffer penalties because you were personally informed.... and if you think a jury trial will go your way look at that crs youtube guy.

They sure will. As long as your surname is 'Biden.' Or even if they know you vote D.

I wouldn*t rely on them playing by the rules. The gloves have come off, they*re not even trying anymore. I could see you being a smug bastard with them and throwing down the *you have to prove it* card.

Next thing that happens is you’re cuffed/stuffed. The nice agent man will explain that we don*t do that warrant thing any more.
We know you bought one, your azz is gonna sit in a cell until you come up with it. You*re going to have bail issues just like some of the 1/6 crew.

So, how does ATF know when somebody buys FRT? Do you fill out a form for it that goes to ATF? It cannot be the creditcard. From my retail experience, merchant account only has the total amount captured and authorized. It does not know about the item(s) being purchased. It's got to be the FFL/retailer that transmits the content of the transaction to 3rd party.
