Default Best CLP? Clean, Lubricate, Protect

This is a year old but I just came across it, and I'm a fan of "Project Farm" tests.

It figures that the stuff I have started using over the past couple of years (Ballistol) ranks the worst

Hoppe's No. 9 here. It smells good in the morning. And at noon. And in the evening.

I clean with cleaners and lube with lubricants.

I've been using synthetic non-detergent air compressor oil on guns for a few years now. Someone who is a gun guy and a lube engineer for a nuke plant told me it was ideal for gun oil. So far I have no complaints. I can't speak to the actual economics of it because I got a 5 gal bucket of it for cheap, but it doesn't disappear, it doesn't collect crud, and it keeps my suppressed and unsuppressed guns working. My one suppressed AR hasn't been cleaned in a couple years. I just keep throwing more oil at it.

I'm a fan of Mobile One 5w20. I read something about using it for gun cleaning a while back and decided to give it a try. it's been over 10 years since that test and I'm still using it. Compared to "gun oil" it's dirt cheap. I've it cleans, lubricates and protects as good or better as any of the other products. YMMV

I use Amzoil gun products for my guns and Hornady One Shot for everything else i.e. lock cylinders, door hinges etc.
Tried to buy a six pack of the Hornady a couple years back but was out of stock so tried another seller and got it delivered. Six months later got a mystery package from UPS and lo and behold it was a six can pack of Hornady One Shot that had been backordered but I guess I never cancelled the order. Well I will never run out of it in my lifetime now haha.
