I've been using Break Free since 1984, on the floor of an old WWII barracks at Ft. Indiantown Gap.

    Ain't broke, don't fix it...

It doesn't clean as well as a dedicated solvent, or lubricate as well as a dedicated lubricant, but it does both of them good enough.

It's kind of like a a dual purpose motorcycle.

George (owner) came to a couple of group shoots way back when. He had samples for everyone. I remember at the time you could get a free sample by mail - not sure if they still do that.

Holy crap. I was going to post a link to their web page and didn't see it.
I did see this forum post though. Apparently Weapon Shield (Steel Shield actually) was bought by someone else.

Thought WS6 and others may be interested in this. I did some research to find out what happened to Steel Shield's Weapon Shield products. I contacted Steel Shield Technologies in Hong Kong and received several emails. The last one was from the new owner of Weapon Shield Products here in the USA. Here is a copy of the email and part of another email about the new owner.

    Jim,
Your contact was forward to me from Andies regarding your search for Weapon Shield.

Unfortunately, the principals at Steel Shield Tech have closed their doors. Steel Shield Technologies of Bethel Park is no longer in operation.

However, the good news is that I have purchased all the Weapon Shield formulas and will be reintroducing Weapon Shield to the market under my company name Rattac Technologies, LLC.

I am in the final stages of getting the new corporation up and running (lots of paperwork), and am in negotiations to get the first production run of weapon Shield made. I should have more information next week that will allow me to set pricing and begin to offer expected delivery dates with lists of wholesalers and distributors.

Feel free to reach out to me with any questions. Our new web site is under construction and will be up in the next week or so. Things are moving forward quickly.

Thanks so much for being a loyal fan of our product. you shouldn't have to wait long.

    Regards,

    Tom

    About the owner:
George Fennell (the inventor of Weapon Shield) and I go back a very long way. He did his best to keep Steel Shield afloat, but due to health issues he was unable to be involved in the day to day operations of the company and sadly, the company leadership did not have the fiscal success of the company in mind - only their own. I used to be the Sales & Marketing Director for Olympic Arms Inc for 23 years. At that time, I was a integral part of getting WS marketed in the industry an acted as a Sales Rep for almost 10 years. We very much look forward to the grand-reintroduction of Weapon Shield. I just don't want to get people too excited until I have a release date I can count on. My current estimation is 60-90 days but hoping for sooner.

    No you won't.
    Apparently he "closed shop."

Well, it looks like someone claims to have bought the rights and the formulas, and is in the process of bringing it back, so maybe you will - but will it be as good? Let's hope so.

I still have a barely used tub of the gun grease.

I haven't been able to find anyone online with the oil in stock.
If anyone DOES know where I can buy Weapon Shield online, please let me know.
I have gone through this "I bought the formula" lie once before and the newly produced "exact same product" was not even remotely the same. (an auto polish)

Looks like you can still get the grease syringe on Ebay for $13 shipped

Hey Gents, just wanted to pop in here and make some clarifications, announcements and re-open the discussion a bit. Let*s start with the announcement:

WEAPON SHIELD* IS BACK! In fact, all the traditional Weapon Shield* CLP products are shipping, and are available for purchase on-line. Being that this is a PA forum, and I*m a born and raised PA boy myself, I*d recommend using Barry at Watt*s Truck Center to make your purchases as he is local as well.

Clarifications: I purchased the formula and intellectual property rights to the Weapon Shield* family of products from George on February of 2023. I have been working since that time to reestablish supply chains (somewhat difficult in this industry after the Wuhan Virus), contract blenders, bottlers, get new labels produced and printed, design and develop new packaging and most importantly, letting former clients know that Weapon Shield* was once again available. It was a major undertaking, but that much has been accomplished.

All the familiar CLP products are out on store shelves and available for purchase. Solvent is being produced now and will be labeled and bottled in all likelihood by late May. Grease products are also coming back and should be available in June or July. Once all the products are back on-line, we will again introduce the popular Maintenance Kits in the 4 oz. size. There will be both a standard and deluxe Maintenance lit made available.

Rattac Technologies, LLC is it*s own company formed just last year and in no way is affiliated with the now defunct Steel Shield Technologies of Bethel Park. No connection whatsoever. Steel Shield no longer exists. Contrary to previous comments I did not purchase or acquire Steel Shield. I only purchased the Weapon Shield* product line. Essentially, I purchased a piece of paper with a formula on it. Everything else needed to bring the product back to market has had to be reinvented.

IMPORTANT FACT: Weapon Shield* is 100% the same formula as before. George is signed on as an exclusive Technical Consultant, and he reviews everything. George supports our efforts completely, and I am in contact with him weekly if not daily. We are honored to carry on his legacy.

Check out our web site at www.weapon-shield.com for more information. Click the link for "Where to Buy" to make your purchases.

Also, feel free to email me at info@weapon-shield.com. I'' be happy to field your questions.
