    Any exemption for pest control?

Same exemption they give you for speeding.

As long as they don't catch you it's legal.

Even if you load each round by hand it still not completely manually operated since it will eject the round for you.

Actually, it is because it is still a semi-auto (design) firearm.

    Is a pick-up truck not a pick-up truck if you don't "pick-up" anything?

    YES! It is.

    Same principal.

6 of one, half a dozen of the other. Of course it's a semi-auto, like I said it would eject the spent shell automatically which is half of the purpose of a semi-auto. Your point?

My point is that it doesn't matter if it feeds, ejects, has a mag etc, etc.

The design is a semi-auto. IOW: the fact it extracts the shell on firing if single loading is NOT the reason it is prohibited. You could remove the extractor and single load it and it is STILL a semi-auto (but broken) firearm. = Not legal for THAT reason.

    Clear?

Ah ok, gotcha I didn't understand what you were getting at. PGC is really stringent like that? I was under the impression that people could make permanent[or really hard to reverse] modifications of semis which would then be legal for hunting.

I would say it would have to be really, really, permanent

If they catch you or not is irrelevant, illegal is illegal. If they don't catch you, you got away with doing something illegal, that doesn't change the status of the act.

by "permanent" they mean the gas system is permanently deactivated, like welded over, etc.

i myself have a 20" flattop AR15 upper that I use to hunt ground hogs.

the barrel is free floated, and has NO gas port, gas tube, or even a gas block.

effectively, its a straight pull bolt action.

it will "auto load" under spring action, but i have to pull the charging handle for each shot to load and eject, so something like an EXTRA power recoil spring is handy also.

I had a game commission officer FREAK when he saw it, but he calmed down quick enough, luckily i got one that wasn't a complete thickhead moron when it comes to guns, like most of them

i need to get another flattop upper and have the side slotted so i can install a left hand holt handle for easy loading.
