Menu Foods lists cat and dog food recall brands
    ASSOCIATED PRESS

Menu Foods announced Saturday it was recalling dog food sold under 48 brands and cat food sold under 40 brands. The food was distributed throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico by major retailers such as Wal-Mart, Kroger and Safeway.

The recall is limited to "cuts and gravy" style pet food that was sold in cans and pouches.

Two other companies -- Nestle Purina PetCare Co. and Hill's Pet Nutrition Inc. -- also voluntarily recalled some products made by Menu Foods as a precaution.

Thumbs down Re: MASSIVE DOG & CAT FOOD RECALL!

That's why my best friend doesn't eat any of that "stuff"!!
Feed your dogs a species appropriate diet! Dogs cant digest carbs! That is what most of these dog foods have as the main staple. Feed raw meaty bones, that includes chicken, tripe, organ meat etc... If you want healthy dogs, feed them raw!

    Enough of my rantings!

Notice that one mfg. makes for so many different brands. The difference in selling price between brands is insane.

I feed my Dogs the Iams pouches along with dry food. Iams websites says that there dog food has not had a problem but are recalling anyway. I will not be giving the dogs that anymore.

Sounds like Iams is being cautious when they probably have reason to believe they aren't affected. That said, why would you turn away from Iams? Would you continue to patronize them had they sold poisoned food and denied it?

Also note all of the articles I've read are dated around March 1997.

Presently, IAMS has now been added to the list as being manufactured by the Menu brand.

Its simple, use a quality dry. It is much easier on you than the BARF(Bones And Raw Food) diet that was suggested above and you can get the Innova brand fairly easily. Innova being a brand that was "approved" by the breeder of my Airedale bitch as being viable for a dog if you are not going to use her preferred diet, BARF.

Luckily, we feed ours Dad's and they seem to like it and it keeps them healthy.
