    Default Choosing AR Bolt/Carrier Group (5.56/.223 & 7.62x39)

Ok, Other than a rear sight and BCG, all my AR parts are essentially ordered or in.

I need some advice on quality bolts/bolt carrier groups.

I'm shying away from M16 carriers due to BATF "interpretations" on FA parts in semis so that kills the ION Bond Bravo company BCG (http://global-tactical.com/bravocomp...utofstock.aspx) that I really want.

So I'm looking for reliability, durability, and easy cleaning. If all I need to do is add an extractor enhancement (D-fender or the like) and torque/stake the carrier key - that is not a deterrent but a chance to learn.

    Please, your thoughts/experiences on:

RRA ($125 from ADCO - I'm running RRA Upper/Lower/LPK if it matters)

DPMS in Chrome ($152 on discount - http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpag...eitemid=333375)
DPMS in TiN ($202 on discount - http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpag...eitemid=446331)

    Known Good Quality:
    LMT ($130 http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/LMT-B...g-lmt-ar15.htm)

    Premium:
    Young National Match Chrome ($215 - http://global-tactical.com/youngnati...pcomplete.aspx)

    Super Premium:
JP Stainless Tactical Carrier ($180 Carrier Only - http://www.jprifles.com/buy.php?item=JPBC-2)
    JP/Leitnerwise ($159 Bolt/FPin/CamPin Only - http://www.jprifles.com/1.4.7.php#1)

Basically, I've got the DPMS Chrome and TiN on Back Order at Midway but have heard mixed things about the TiN damaging hammers, buffers,
& uppers and about consistancy w/ the chrome plating for clearance. Some seem to love them. Don't care about the eye-candy but want extra durability, cleanability and lube tolerance if possible.

Should I cancel them and drop back to a LMT or CMT - high quality, peened/inspected but "no frills", maybe later try out a JP/LW super BCG, or do any of the DPMS plating upgrades make sense?

Also on a 7.62x39 Bolt - Will the DPMS bolt run with Wolf (maybe w/ the firing pin mod) or do I NEED to go with the MGI (http://www.mgimilitary.com/store/ind...8ac2c3f975dbf1) for twice as much

Sorry for the ramble, but there are a lot of choices & factors.

The TiN parts look hella cool, but if you're going to get a tin bolt you should ge tthe tin hammer as well.

Really since you have RRA...everything. I'd get RRA.

I don't know much about ARs but from what I've read ... LMT and BCM are top notch BCGs.

But I agree with Kaos ... you have RRA everything else, might as well try the RRA BCG

No can do on the TiN hammer as I'm installing the RRA/WhiteOak 2-Stage. RRA might be be the safe bet, although I'd prefer the LMT if there is no adverse aspect in the RRA Upper reciever.

Care to explain to a newbie why there could be any adverse interactions with the RRA upper?

I'm an AR newbie too - Just lots of lurking/reading to date.

Shouldn't be any, but I understand RRA's purportedly are fairly tight fits (at least as far as lower-to-upper mating) and wondered if someone might have heard of a bad cases of conflicting large BCG vs. small receiver interference at the tolerance limits.

I'm pissed at spike's tactical for the shit they did with the price of their lowers but...that BCG is sexy.

You're incorrect on the M16 BCG / ATF issue. Or GTS is. Whatever, the ATF issued a letter stating it is OK to use an M16 BCG in a semi-auto AR15.

Don't rule out the Young non-NM BCG. Great buy for the money IMHO.

Go with the LMT or BCM FA BCG's and never worry about it again.
