    Default Gloves while CC'ing?

I haven't been carrying for very long, but tonight while I was walking my lab I made the realization that my gloves would pose a problem in drawing my gun. Mind you the gloves I was wearing were not very bulky. I got to a secluded spot and tried a quick practice draw and it didn't happen like it should. I took my glove off and put it in my coat and finished my walk with my bare right hand in my pocket. This site has made me much more situationally aware of myself, the surroundings and the people around.

So my question would be, does anyone practice drawing with their gloves and winter clothing on? And secondly, any suggestions on an appropriate CC'ing winter glove?

    Thanks in advance,
    LDMF

If you dress like the kid from "A Christmas Story" all those layers will stop incoming bullets.

    So I'm good to go

(Seriously, good question but I don't have an answer. It's always a traedoff between fast access and fashion)

Yes, it is something we practice often. Even the IDPA group (Keystone Sportsmen's) that I shoot with has a gloved match. The entire course is shot with gloved hands.

It definitely changes your efforts to bring a firearm to bear and should be practiced. I shoot year round outside so some days gloves simply must be worn.

    Be safe (and warm).

I don't wear gloves at any time so it wouldn't apply to me

Only time I wear gloves is when I'm on my motorcycle, so it's not a big issue for me. On top of that, the gloves I wear then are open fingered, so drawing and trigger control would not be a problem.

I wear wool gloves that have the tips of the fingers exposed... The thumb is the only finger that isn't exposed and I haven't had any problems yet.

If you check in police catalouges you will find very thin gloves that will work better for shooting. They can be found unlined, kevlar lined, or thinsulate lined. You will still have to pratice to be sure how they will work with the gun you use and your other gear.
Not about gloves, but another way:
One of the ways to do this is to get something like a S&W 442 or 642 (snag free revolvers) and carry it in the outer coat pocket. You don't wear gloves with this, you put your hand in your pocket, on the gun. These can be fired through the pocket (no autos, will jam). Ruins the coat, but you will not care under the circumstances.
If you are out and taking your coat off these are small enough to discreetly palm and slip into a trouser pocket using the coat for cover. Do not leave it in your coat if it is not under your immediate control.

I have 2 pairs of isotoner gloves, one thinsulate lined the other unlined spandex/lycra with leather grip panels stitched on them. The unlined I have no problem with the draw, the lined ones I have a problem getting my shirt/jacket/etc out of the way and havent figured out how to deal with that other than to OC (which im not ready to do yet).
Please help my Baby Kitties and I avoid being homeless.
