Plastic cased ammo
I would like to know who makes the plastic cased ammo and if it is available in 7.62x39mm. Any direction would be appreciated. Thank You

I've never heard of that before. I don't think such a thing exists.

Re: Plastic cased ammo
Are you talking about plastic cased ammo, or plastic bullets for indoor practice? The palstic cased ammo was made by a company called Natec and I only ever saw it in 5.56x45. I believe that Natec went the way of the Dodo.
Plastic bullets used to be made mostly for handgun calibers. Speer made plastic cases and bullets, powered by a primer only and they were reuseable. Not syre they are still around either.
In any case, I've never run across any in 7.62x39. Sorry.
Adios,

Re: Plastic cased ammo
I found a few .223 plastic cases at the range a few years ago. I've not seen any since. Must be a reason.

Re: Plastic cased ammo
USAC (United States Ammunition Company) made plastic cased ammo that was designed to be easily reloaded by simply replacing the primer, adding a powder, and seating a bullet with their special reloading tool. They no longer make the stuff anymore. I'm not sure what calibers it was offered in, but I believe it was only pistol rounds.

Re: Plastic cased ammo
The Army National Guard used plastic-cased 5.56's at one point back in 2001-2 for sure. My brother is an Abrams Commander and brought home some of the empties he qualified with before going to Bosnia in '02 with SFOR 12. They are the only ones I've ever seen. I still have them on the shelf in the gun room.
He told me the reason for them was cheaper to mass-produce, and lighter to carry for the grunts. Most of them carry around 400-500 rounds on them when outside the wire. I can't say if they still make 'em or not. Sorry.Political Correctness is the idea that you can pick up a Turd by the Clean End.

Re: Plastic cased ammo
I don't see how plastic could handle the pressures involved in a rifle round?
