Default Montgomery County LTCF Link Dead

    Dan / Mods,

If there is an official way to do this, my apologies in advance for not remembering the correct protocol.

I was responding to a question in the Montgomery County forum and noticed that the "Permit Website" link is out of date on the Montgmery County page.

It is currently set to (http://www.montcopa.org/countyoffice...un_permit_.htm), but it appears that it should be (http://sheriff.montcopa.org/sheriff/...,3,Q,15450.asp) instead.

On a separate point, the MontCo page (http://sheriff.montcopa.org/sheriff/...,3,q,41609.asp) indicates that ---
This section issues a "license to carry firearm" to those residents of Montgomery County who are 21 years of age or older and show cause to carry a firearm concealed on or about one's person . . . .
The "show cause" is obviously nonsense (unless Self-Defense is show cause), but I mention it because I don't remember that wording on the previous version of their web site. You may want to mention this in the "Carry Permit Notes" section.

Lastly, the current "Carry Permit Notes" section reads ---

In Montgomery county applicants must provide their own passport photos for the plastic permits.
Actually you can have them take your digital picture right at the Sheriff's Office to create a "drivers license" type LTCF (which I would recommend). It appears that bringing passport photos is still an option (save a few bucks maybe?), but it is not a requirement.

    Sheriff Services - Gun Permit
    • Hard Plastic, similar to drivers license, $46.00, you do not need to supply photo for this option.

    • Laminated paper permit with photo attached, $25.00 You must supply 2 official passport photographs to obtain this permit.

This looks like it is just a re-wording of what is stated in the PA UFA (in part):

    (e) Issuance of license.--
    (1) A license to carry a firearm shall be for the
purpose of carrying a firearm concealed on or about one's
person or in a vehicle and shall be issued if, after an
investigation not to exceed 45 days, it appears that the
applicant is an individual concerning whom no good cause
    exists to deny the license
