WOLF AMMO, any thoughts on it?
9MM WOLF 124 GRAIN FMJ
Anyone use this Russian stuff? It's relatively inexpensive for a lot of practice/target shooting.
With ammo so expensive I'm looking for a cheap, but non-problematic ammo for the range. I like to get to the range at least once a week and put 100 or so thru the pipe.

Re: WOLF AMMO, any thoughts on it?
I feed it to my SKS, but then, they aren't too fussy about what they eat.
I always hear "it's filthy ammo." I'm not sure how true that is because I've never actually compared it to any other ammo I use.
I've also heard recently from another member, that it hits all over the place when he's shooting his .45, but in a smaller cal. (forget which) it's more accurate.
My thoughts on it?
I'd rather not use filthy, cheap ammo in an expensive handgun for practice that isn't (potentially) giving me a true "read" on my accuracy. I'll pay a bit more and practice with some other somewhat filthy, "brand name" FMJ that is a bit more accurate.
The only plus I can think of, other than low price, is that I can pick up my empties with a magnet!I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: WOLF AMMO, any thoughts on it?
i too am curious about wolf ammo. i have several calibers that wolf makes ammo for. the only reason i would think someone says its dirty could be from maybe corrosive primers. wolfs website says they use boxer primers. nothing wrong with that i guess, it just means the ammo is reloadable. my findings, after doing a little research on wolf, is that it will foul up your barrel and has a bad odor. my only suggestion if you do buy wolf ammo, is to buy the new GOLD line. seems it has "clean burning powder'' and copper coated bullets. i guess they heard alot of complaints and this is their attempt to fix it. well try it and let everyone know what you think. if i buy some i will do the same

I've also heard wolf ammo is dirty. I don't like to take chances with cheap ammo in my carry gun, or an expensive gun.

Re: WOLF AMMO, any thoughts on it?
I've personally shot tens of thousands of rounds of Wolf. I've never had a problem with it in any of the guns I've shot it out of (Glocks, AK's, and AR's, Shotguns). I dont know how a gun that requires frequent cleaning would function with wolf during prolonged fire. It's affordable ammo that works great for training.

Re: WOLF AMMO, any thoughts on it?
it's all i feed my ar, it seems to eat it just fine.
i've run some 30carbine through the m1, it does'nt seem to mind it either.
i've also put a few .45's down there as well.
it smells bad and seems to let more residue but it works.it's only metal, we can out think it....

Re: WOLF AMMO, any thoughts on it?
My roommate's dad got him 1000 rounds of .40S&W Wolf for Christmas, we shoot it at the range all the time, never had a problem with it. The worst thing for me is that i always jab my fingers on the plastic trays it comes in.

Re: WOLF AMMO, any thoughts on it?
Wolf ammo is fine for plinking, but I'd never use it at the range or to sight in a gun. For practice ammo (at the range on paper targets) I think it's best to use an inexpensive FMJ round that has the same shooting characteristics as your defense round. In 9mm, I practice with Fiocchi FMJ ($7.45 a box, which is a great deal for quality factory-new ammo) and use Federal Hydra-Shoks as my carry load. I had a chance to buy 1000 rnds of Bear ammo at $5.90 a box, but I'd only use it for breaking glass in a junk pit with my P94.
