Suggestions on .22 Pistol
I'm looking at investing in a .22 pistol mainly for target shooting, but have no idea what to buy. I am usually a Glock kind of guy, but obviously they don't have anything available in this department (and I am not interested in a conversion kit.) But, I wouldn't mind a kind of gun that is similar to Glock (some people have recommended Sig to me.)
Any recommendations would be appreciated. I am interested in buying a quality gun and price is not a major concern.
Thanks for your help.

I like the Browning Buckmark. A super handgun for the money.

Ruger .22/45 for the grip. +1 on the Buckmark.

I have a glock conversion kit for a glock22. I subsequently went out and bought a Ruger Mark III 22/45. Didnt care too much for the conversion kit. Wouldnt mind selling it.

Re: Suggestions on .22 Pistol
The usual suggestions are the Browning Buckmark (as noted) and the Ruger series (Mk.II and the current Mk.III). I like the Ruger; it's pretty much a bombproof .22. You will hear horror stories about the difficulty of dismantling Rugers for cleaning; IMHO, that is not true. I have had one for years and have no trouble with it. Follow the manual.
But...my all time favorite is my High Standard Victor made in the H-S Hamden, Conn. factory back in the early 1970s. Unfortunately, H-S went out of business. The guns, however, are frequently available on Gunbroker.com. The best American target pistol ever made.

Re: Suggestions on .22 Pistol
I'm an unabashed Ruger fan, I would go for a MKII or MKIII. I happen to like the standard model with the bull barrel for target shooting, but wouldn't turn down a 22/45 for the right price.
That said, If I could get (at a decent price) a High Standard Supermatic Citation I would jump on it. The HS target model 22's in their day were the cream of the crop and NRA bullseye shooters shot them almost exclusively. But as stated, sadly, they are no longer made.Ron USAF Ret E-8 FFL01/SOT3 NRA Benefactor Member

Xring: There are a number of Citations available at Gunbroker.com. This one appears to be particularly nice: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=115376251.

Re: Suggestions on .22 Pistol
Since you mentioned you are a Glock kind of guy, I would recommend Buckmark.
I personally carry Glock 23, and I love target practice with Buckmark. I feel just like my 23, so I switch between the two when I am at the range.

Re: Suggestions on .22 Pistol
The Rugers (MKII, MKIII, 22/45), S&W22A and Buck Marks are all excellent choices. All are well made, reliable and easy to shoot accurately. The best pistol for the money is the 22A. It also has the best warranty and is easiest to field strip. I prefer the Rugers to the Buck Marks for no reason other than personal preference. I have 4 Rugers of different flavors, a 22A and a Buck Mark Standard. My only problem is which one(s) to take shooting on a given day. The one that feels best to you and meets your budget best is the best choice.
