Re: Tip on LEO Conversations While OC
Cop: Can I ask you some questions, Sir?
You: I don't know, can you? Of course, to be both civil and grammatically correct, you'd ask "May I ask you some questions, Sir?".
Cop: I noticed you're wearing a firearm openly.
You: Your powers of observation apparently work quite well.
Cop: Well, it's making people nervous.
You: Gee, they have my sympathies, all two of them.
Cop: I'd like you to cover it up.
You: I'm already wearing a hat.
Cop: I'd like you to cover your fiream up, and I need to see some ID.
You: Since there's no legal requirement for me to do either, I think I'll decline your request.
Cop: I just need to see some ID.
You: Why?
It would probably go downhill from there, depending on how froggy I feel.

fixed...
I have a scenario..
If your told to cover your firearm and you don't have a LTCF, the LEO would be demanding you to be in violation of the law. [not that the officer would know the law]

Re: Tip on LEO Conversations While OC
just a thought.
One time my nephew and a few of his friends were out bar hopping.
They got pulled over and the LEO was pretty forgiving about it.
He told the one guys wife to drive, seeing how she hadn't been drinking.
So they all got in the car and she drove off.
The never told the officer that she didn't have a drivers license
[now back to the topic on hand]

Re: Tip on LEO Conversations While OC
I must be special. Every single cop I have encountered, whether alone or in groups, has apparently known OC is legal. A few have spoken to me, and one was on the verge of asking me to leave an establishment when the manager intervened, and the rest have just walked on by or stood around with me in line and never said a thing. And I am talking somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 cops or so total which I have encountered while wearing my gun openly.

just some food for thought: why would a cop ask you to leave a place of business if the manager of said business would not?

This was in KFC a couple of weeks ago. Someone called the cops unbeknownst to the manager. The officer thought it was the manager and came in telling me I had to leave. As the situation developed, the manager informed the officer I was welcome to stay. Both came over and apologized for bothering me. I suspect that someone may have gotten a talking to later on for calling the cops without managerial permission.

Sorry, but you're not special. I think most responsible cops won't hassle you for a legal activity... The real problem are those "one percenters" who recklessly rick their careers and reputation because they enjoy violating other's civil rights.
